Shopify Network Intelligence – Make smarter decisions with historical data

Shopify just introduced a new feature with a big name: Shopify Network Intelligence. Behind the label is a simple idea: you can now activate a feature that combines your own historical performance with network-wide data from other stores – to generate better admin recommendations.

This includes suggestions for product groups, merchandising, search logic or campaign tactics – all based on actual data, not guesswork.

What does it require?

To enable the feature, you need to agree that Shopify can use your store’s historical data (going back to January 1, 2024). You also need to make sure your customer privacy settings are compliant – including cookie consent and lawful use of tracking data.

If you're already on top of your compliance (and you should be if you're selling in the EU), all you have to do is enable the feature – and let Shopify start using your data more intelligently.

What can it be used for?

Shopify doesn’t give exact details yet – but they hint at:

  • Smarter product recommendations
  • Improved sorting in search and collections
  • Predictions based on similar shops
  • Better suggestions for campaigns and setup improvements

In other words: it’s not a new tool you actively use – it’s behind-the-scenes intelligence designed to make your admin work smoother.

Should you enable it?

My take: Yes – as long as your data setup is solid and compliant.

For many Shopify stores, this could be a step toward better decisions and less trial-and-error. But it only works if your store already handles data lawfully and you’re comfortable with Shopify using your data to feed their models.

You won’t see magical results overnight – but it’s a small change that may lead to smarter operations in the long run.

We can include this in our monthly planning – if it’s relevant to your store’s current focus.
